Rode Hard

Acrylic painting on 18x24-inch stretched canvas, sealed with Liquitex matte varnish.

Some vaqueros ride into the sunset and others keep going. This lone rider has a lifetime under his belt of riding dusty trails and chasing horizons. His grinning face and bony hands tell us he's been through hell and come out the other side with his grit and his good humor. His portrait is a playful, slightly macabre nod to the rugged spirit of the American Southwest.
